The Consciousness Project started in the summer of 2013 with a burning desire to draw sleeping figures. I know that may sound boring to some, but I didn’t mean it to be that simple. The whole point was to see if I could manipulate the body in such a way as to see inside it, to reach into its sleeping mind and grasp at its dreams. The attraction of the still figure tangled in folds, in a state of pure honesty, no masks, no lies, and not even there..
I used printmaking (reduction linocut, monotype, lithography, serigraphy), painting (oil on canvas, and acrylic on paper), and drawing (colored pencil) to create these piece.
